SPECIFICATION

Furnish and install the Portals Plus Standard Roof Hatch as manufactured by Portals Plus, Inc., Bensenville, IL, at all roof access openings.

The Roof Hatch shall include a 12" high curb manufactured of 14 gauge galvanized steel with integral counterflashing and 3-1/2" wide mounting flange with pre-drilled mounting holes all welded together to form unitized construction. Exterior of curb sides to be wrapped with 1" thick fiberboard insulation. Roof Hatch cover shall consist of a high-strength, composite panel manufactured with an exterior covering of 14 gauge galvanized steel over a layer of 1" thick rigid foam type insulation bonded to a liner of 22 gauge galvanized steel. Composite cover construction to have a minimum insulating "U" value of 0.173. A torsion bar spring shall be mounted within the composite cover panel to assist manual cover operation. Composite cover panel to be factory mounted on steel pintle-type hinges, have automatically locking hold-open arm, and have a latching device with inside and outside handles. Cover to open a full 90º vertical. Padlock hasp to be factory mounted with inside latch. All hardware to be zinc or cadmium plated. All exposed surfaces to be factory prime painted. Fasten curb over wood blocking equal in thickness to adjacent roof insulation secured to substrate.
